Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Dr Rajneesh Calton, Dr Anil Luther with their teams and Patients Amrik Singh
Ludhiana, 23rd September, 2013:(Shalu Arora and Rector Kathuria): Mr.Amrik Singh , a 78 year old gentleman had presented to Christian Medical College, Ludhiana Hospital in the OPD with pain in abdomen. An ultrasound and CT Angiogram has revealed an infra renal abdominal aortic aneurysm. Abdominal Aortic aneurysm is a dilatation of the main blood vessel of the abdomen which if ruptures patient can die in seconds because of massive bleeding. Due to his advanced age, open surgery was associated with very high risk. Therefore an EVAR ( Endovascular Aneurysm  Repair ) was done with a stent. This is a minimally invasive procedure by which an aortic stent is passed through the femoral arteries by making a small incision in the groin. This approach avoids a large abdominal incision and the patient can be discharged within few days.

This procedure was performed in our hospital by Dr.Rajneesh Calton (Cardiologist), Dr.Anil Luther (Vascular Surgeon) and their respective team members;Dr.Amit Mahajan, , Dr.Conosh Mathew, Dr.Rashmi, Dr. A.Speedie and Dr Pranay Pawar.

Many Such complex procedures by Endovascular repair (Balloon Angioplasty/ Stenting) of the blood vessels have been performed by the above said teams in Christians Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana.
