ਕੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਲੋੜ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ? ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਪਡ਼੍ਹੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਵੱਲੋ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਰੂੱਪ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬਣਦਿਆਂ 13 ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਤਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਸਭ ਨੇ ਖਿਡ਼ੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਵਾਦ ਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਭਾਸਾ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਲਿਖਣ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਕਡ਼ ਨਹੀਂ।ਇਸ ਕਰ...ਕੇ
ਉਹ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਦੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਹਿਤ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਤੇ ਪਕਡ਼ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਫਾ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਣਗੇ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ। ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਤੇ ਸੌਖੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਲਤੀਆਂ ਨੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤੇ ਕਮਜੋਰ ਪਕਡ਼ ਦੀ ਪੋਲ ਖੋਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਹੁਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋ ਇਹ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰਨ। ਉਹ ਭੱਦਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਹਜ਼ਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕਿ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ, "ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੇਈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ, ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ?"
ਉਹ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਦੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਹਿਤ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਤੇ ਪਕਡ਼ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਫਾ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਣਗੇ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ। ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਤੇ ਸੌਖੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਲਤੀਆਂ ਨੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤੇ ਕਮਜੋਰ ਪਕਡ਼ ਦੀ ਪੋਲ ਖੋਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਹੁਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋ ਇਹ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰਨ। ਉਹ ਭੱਦਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਹਜ਼ਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਕਿ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ, "ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੇਈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ, ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ?"
ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੀ ਮਾਮੂਲੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਰੁਸਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਣਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਲਤ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੀ ਨਾ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ। ਸ਼ਇਦ ਮਾ ਬੋਲੀ ਤੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਵਾਦ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਭਾਰੀ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। --ਸੰਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਮਲ੍ਹੀ

Before 1947, Hindi was very simple and easily understood. After 1947, the Government of India spent billions of dollars to translate Judicial Forms, Medical Forms, Army, Navy and Air Forces Forms and Railway Forms in Sanskritized Hindi. Like Urdu, it didn't use the existing words of English or Urdu in vogue. These bigots coined every technical word and them made the school going children remember it. You have used the word 'Gyata' derived fron Gyan in Sanskrit, where as in Punjabi the simplwe word"Jankar" does exist. Your Punjabi has an obvious influence of Hindi words like 'bhasha for boli, raster for desh, swekar for manjoor, rashtervad for desi, sanman for aadar etc.
I am out of the country for 40 years or so in the States. But I never forget my mother tongue Punjabi. When I was growing up, in my village near Jallandhar, all Brahmans, Khatri and Hindu families will write Hindi as their mother language in the legal papers and will speak Punjabi otherwise everyday and Punjabi was their mother tongue. In today's Haryaana, Himachal , and many parts of Aanchal Pardesh, speak Punjabi. All their folk songs are based on Punjabi. Kulu, Kangra in particular has all their folk songs in Punjabi.
A wise man can and should learn as many languages as one can muster. I can read , write Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Spanish and many other languages which I learnt in the States at the Asian Studies departments of the Universities. Punjabi is my mother tongue. In the States , the doctors found that before people die, they revert to their mother tongue. Many Punjabi, outside Punjab, are proud to tell that they are Punjabi and when it comes to language, if they are Hindus, they go for Hindi. I respect Hindi as religion but I don't like the hypocrisy of the people disowning their mother tongue. I don’t see any dilution to their religious fervor, if they correctly and honestly admit that Punjabi is their mother tongue.
The discouraging of the Urdu, a wonderful lingua-franca of India, is another step which can’t be justified. Our forefathers all knew Urdu, corresponded in Urdu and did commerce in Urdu. Urdu also linked us with Middle Eastern and Arabic countries. In Punjabi, Hindi, Rajesthani, and Marhati, there are lots of words we speak that came from Urdu. Today we use Urdu lyrics because they come deep from the heart and are not unnatural as in Hindi. Modern Hindu ruined classical Hindi and Indians are forced to relearn obsolete dead words derived erroneously from the dead language Sanskrit.
